This study presents a multi-objective optimization model designed for the development and management of biofuel supply chains amid uncertainties in supply and demand. The model aims to achieve several objectives, including minimizing overall costs, unmet demand, CO2 emissions, and inventory risk, with a focus on enhancing sustainability, reducing environmental impacts, and improving operational efficiency. Utilizing a linear programming (LP) metric for optimization and the fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (FAHP) for objective weighting, the model effectively establishes a stable balance among competing objectives. To validate the model's performance, sensitivity analyses and Pareto solutions were conducted to explore trade-offs between various objectives. The findings indicate that the proposed model successfully manages uncertainties, leading to significant reductions in costs and enhancements in efficiency, while also minimizing environmental impacts and inventory risks. Furthermore, scenario analyses demonstrate that fluctuations in supply and demand directly influence the configuration of the supply chain, particularly regarding the number of warehouses, pre-processing centers, and active biogas facilities. A decrease in supply and demand correspondingly resulted in lower costs and greenhouse gas emissions; however, in certain instances, it also heightened warehouse risk. Conversely, an increase in supply and demand led to improved capacity utilization and a reduction in warehouse risk. By offering detailed analyses and strategic trade-offs among objectives, this model assists decision-makers in selecting optimal strategies for resource allocation and infrastructure development. Consequently, it provides a comprehensive framework for the sustainable and efficient management of biofuel supply chains.
